Mission Statement

People are power. Young people of every generation have managed to change history. The beat poets revamped literature from a dorm room at Columbia University, the Beatles created pop music as we know it out of a bedroom. The hippies weren’t just a bunch of stoners but lived a lifestyle of peace and harmony that eventually ended a war. The punks did not just scream angry lyrics in microphones in dark bars and shocked your grandparents but voiced the frustration and despair of a generation.

People have voices. And it is those voices that change the course of history. But it feels like now that we have all those opportunities to make ourselves heard and it seems we’re only getting quieter. For every political outrage on Twitter, there is a picture of our dinner. For every interesting article on Facebook, there is a shot of how wasted we got last night. For every piece of art on Instagram, there is a selfie. #blessed. #really?

We have been called a lot of names. GenY, Millenials, the “Hook-Up Generation“, Generation Internet or the “Entitlement Generation“. We are supposed to be too lazy, or too ambitious. We are too reckless, we are too traditional. We are too superficial, we are too idealistic. We are bored and we are overwhelmed. No one knows who “we“ are. Hell, we don’t. But let’s find out, one voice at a time.

Because we believe in our power, in our voices. We want to create a platform where we, where you, can share our opinions. While we might not be “On the Road“ while walking on Wall Street screaming “Hey Jude“, we have something to say nonetheless.
